The Benefits of a Face Roller
Posted by MISS POSH

Using a Face Roller produces several benefits, such as:
- It prevents your skin from ageing - Face rolling tones your facial muscles and thus improves your skin’s elasticity, depuffs your face, and reduces any ageing signs
- It renews the cells in your face - The rolling treatment is as good as any facial massage when done correctly (more about this soon). It energises your tired face by replenishing your skin cells.
- It increases blood circulation and collagen in your face - Face rolling allows your blood to flow from one end of your face to the other, making it look fresher and brighter. It also improves the production of a facial skin protein known as collagen.
- It results in faster absorption of skincare products - For noticeable results, apply your skincare products such as serum and moisturiser, and massage it lightly with a Face Roller.
- It tackles dark circles - Due to its cooling effect, Face rolling reduces the size of blood vessels that are found under the eyes, thus bidding goodbye to dark circles and bags.
HOW DOES A FACE ROLLER WORK?
To understand how a Face Roller works, it is important to know the structure of the tool. It consists of a handle with two rollers on both ends. The larger roller is meant for your entire face. Whereas, the smaller one is made for areas around your eyes. These rollers are made out of jade or any other type of crystal or semi-precious stone which have special healing and soothing properties.
Science says that when you roll your tool over your face, it creates a light pressure, stimulating blood and energy flow among your facial tissues. This increases blood circulation as well as promotes a more optimal lymph movement which leads to effective regeneration, repair, and protection of cells!
HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST FACIAL ROLLER FOR YOUR SKIN?
Since the facial roller trend has become hyper-visible due to social media, the market is overflowing with different crystal rollers. Since your skin type governs all the topical products you choose to apply, it should also have a say in the tools you choose to use!
- Jade - It has a cooling effect which soothes irritation and reduces inflammation. It is ideal to get rid of wrinkles and blemishes as it causes lymphatic drainage. It grows, tightens, and raises the immunity of your skin.
- Rose Quartz - This beautiful crystal is famous for self-love and care. It represents beauty and youth. It is responsible for reducing your stress and negative energy. It repairs, heals, and increases cell turnover, which softens fine lines.
3. Amethyst - It is great for acne-prone skin since this crystal is powerful and protective. It reduces inflammation and tightens skin.
- Obsidian - This stone brings out an overall balance in the skin. It includes powerful elements of the earth, fire, and water. It has a deep healing effect that penetrates the skin and rejuvenates it on all levels.
HOW TO USE A FACE ROLLER?
If you are using the regular-sized, dual-ended roller, make sure to follow these steps -
- The first step is to prepare the tool for rolling by putting it into the freezer for 2-3 hours.
- While your tool is in the freezer, clean your face. Use a recommended face cleanser for your skin type. Make sure it is completely devoid of dirt and any product that you slathered on before. Then, dry your face with a soft towel and apply some serum or moisturiser on the areas you will roll on.
- Next, take your Jade Roller and place it in the back at the top of your neck and start rolling it downwards. After you cover the back area, begin rolling it downwards along both the sides of your neck. When you have completed this, place the Jade Roller in the front of your neck and roll it from the jawline to the collarbones.
- On completion of the previous step, bring your roller to the middle of your face. Push it outwards, toward the sides. Ensure you finish rolling your cheek area before moving on to the forehead.
- Place your roller on your forehead and roll down to your eyebrow. When you are satisfied, put the roller between your eyebrows, and pull it horizontally to your temples on both sides.
- Using the smaller side of your roller, roll it gently between the outer and inner corners of your eyes.
- To finish it off, wipe your face with a towel, and apply your favourite moisturiser.
Incase you are using the mini face roller, which has a single roller head, follow these steps -
- The first step is to prepare the tool for rolling by putting it into the freezer for 2-3 hours.
- While your tool is in the freezer, clean your face. Use a recommended face cleanser for your skin type. Make sure it is completely devoid of dirt and any product that you slathered on before. Then, dry your face with a soft towel and apply some serum or moisturiser on the areas you will roll on.
- Place the roller at the edge of the lips and work your way in the upward direction towards the nose. Continue rolling over your lips and under your nose.
- Start rolling over the eyelids, under the eyes from the inner corner to the outermost corner. Next, roll the tool over your eyebrows.
- Roll from the middle of the forehead towards your temple. Make sure to repeat on the other side.
- To finish it off, wipe your face with a towel, and apply your favourite moisturiser.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU USE A FACE ROLLER?
You can use your Jade Rollers up to 3-4 times a week. Or you can choose to use it daily. Just remember to be consistent with whatever you decide as inconsistency will affect the healing process.
HOW TO CLEAN AND STORE YOUR FACE ROLLER?
Cleaning your Face Roller regularly is important because you do not want any of the dirt and bacteria accumulated on it to spread on your face the next time you use it. You can use a soft towel to wipe it before and after every use. Additionally, you should dip the towel in some soapy water (water + your cleanser) and then wipe your tool gently. Avoid using hot water and harsh chemical soap/cleansers as it will damage the stones in your roller. Make sure that your roller is completely dry before you put it back into its box.
While storing it, remember that your Face Roller is extremely fragile, and dropping it can damage its crystals, thus altering results. You can store your tool in a dry place and somewhere it will not fall. You can even store it in your refrigerator (or a make-up fridge) for an added cooling effect.
Are you using a face roller yet?
